Es un átomo demasiado grande para poder formar ese tipo de estructuras. Lo más parecido son las estructuras con oxígeno como unión entre dos átomos de silicio; se forman así cadenas y redes tridimensionales de gran tamaño, pero el resultado es casi siempre una roca. Estos compuestos de silicio y oxígeno (es decir de sílice) carecen de las complejidades de los compuestos de los seres vivos; además, son todos sólidos insolubles, que sólo reaccionan estando fundidos a temperaturas del orden de 1.000ºC (temperaturas típicas de la lava fundida, pero no de los seres vivos).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1'
